Did you see it? I
changed the name of my blog!
I’d been thinking about
this for some time, because I wanted my blog to have more of an identity, and
yesterday during coffee with a friend (thanks, Betsy!), the name “Blogvocate”
was born. I added the “HR,” and I gotta say—I like it.
What is a “blogvocate”
you ask? Well, a blogvocate is someone who advocates by blogging, and that’s
what I do. I use this blog to advocate for functional workplaces, improved race
relations, courageous leadership, kindness,
humility and gratitude,
reasoned
debate, and the benefits of engaging in a bit of irreverence
every now and again.
Why not, huh? I’m an HR
professional, and since the day I started my first job at the age of sixteen
I’ve been fascinated with the workplace and workplace dynamics. Also, I’ve
already devoted many pages of this blog to the goings on at work.
So, I’ll continue
writing about current events and the occasional family squabble, or whatever
else takes my fancy, to be honest, but the main focus of this blog will be happenings
relative to the world of work, and I’m excited about that.
I’m also excited about
Stinky Stew™, the book I’m writing, because this book is an unapologetic offering
to employees who are being beaten up by their workplaces, and if anyone needs
an advocate, they do. So please take a moment to check out an excerpt here,
and feel free to leave a comment. I’d love to incorporate reader feedback into
the final manuscript.
